The protagonist, Yi Xun, is sent by his father to Shangshi County to reclaim power and eliminate Ge Tan, the leader of the local ruling body, the "Xuantian Division." However, upon arriving in Shangshi County, Yi Xun is met with a cold reception. Ge Tan displays the arrogance of a local tyrant, and Yi Xun's first attempt ends in failure.

Just then, a young girl named Shiyi Yue arrives to assassinate Ge Tan. Yi Xun seizes this opportunity to retaliate against the Xuantian Division and assert his authority. However, Shiyi Yue's assassination attempt fails, and she is in danger. Yi Xun kindly rescues her, but is instead kidnapped by her and taken to a grove. During their secret conversation, Yi Xun learns about the ancient clan's past from Shiyi Yue and realizes he can use their power to fight against the Xuantian Division.

He cures Shiyi Yue's poison and plans to recruit her to his side. Unexpectedly, Shu Li of the Xuantian Division leads pursuers to surround the grove, putting the two in grave danger. Ge Tan also appears at this moment. Ge Tan forcibly tries to take Shiyi Yue away, leading to a conflict with Yi Xun, and the two groups battle in the forest. During the fight, Yi Xun unintentionally triggers his ancient clan bloodline, replicating Shiyi Yue's totem and using its spiritual power to help the heavily injured Shiyi Yue escape.

Led by Shiyi Yue, Yi Xun travels to the ancient clan's sacred land, learning about its history and confirming his own ancient clan identity. However, the two inadvertently disturb the guardian beast Yinglong, and to save Shiyi Yue, Yi Xun replicates the totem again, activating his ancient clan bloodline. Just after their escape, they encounter Chu Ci, a girl gathering herbs. Yi Xun takes them back to Shangshi County, where he sets a trap for Ge Tan at the north gate, secretly bringing Shiyi Yue into the city. Yi Xun stays at the county governor's mansion, where Chu Ci's identity is revealed—she is also from the ancient clan. However, Shiyi Yue's injuries are not yet healed, and to treat her, Chu Ci and Yi Xun decide to go into the mountains to find herbs.

Unaware of each other's origins, Yi Xun and Chu Ci, while gathering herbs, harbor mutual suspicion and unfortunately encounter the wild bear Jue Ming. Jue Ming goes berserk upon seeing blood, and it seems to hold a secret about the Xuan Tian Si. Yi Xun and Chu Ci work together to subdue Jue Ming, obtain the herbs, and return home. Yi Xun finally resolves to join forces with the ancient tribes to fight against the Xuan Tian Si, but his bodyguard Yi opposes this, even secretly sending people to destroy the herbs.

Fortunately, Chu Ci uses his spiritual power to revive the herbs, and they are saved and awaken in Shiyi Yue. Meanwhile, Ge Tan, by tracking Yi Xun, learns of Jue Ming's whereabouts. It turns out that Jue Ming is a mutated ancient tribe member researched by the Xuan Tian Si, so Ge Tan secretly dispatches other mutated ancient tribes to capture Jue Ming...
